2015 "Youth to Reduce Harassment" project launching

The Arab Network for Civic Education (ANHRE) launched a project entitled "Youth to Reduce Harassment" as part of a grant from USAID. Which aims to enhance the capabilities of young leaders and develop their skills to design and implement community campaigns by exercising their right to participate in public life and decision-making and to create mechanisms for dialogue with decision-makers. The project also seeks to work with similar institutions to further analyze the context locally and nationally, particularly with regard to legislation, laws, attitudes and opinions of people on the problem. The project will run from the beginning of September 2015 until the end of May 2016.

 

The first event of the project is a training workshop for trainers on issues of harassment in public and private places entitled "Designing and implementing community campaigns against harassment"  in addition to providing them with knowledge about the principles and topics of gender, gender-based violence, human rights and the concept of advocacy. The training is targeted at 20 young male and female leaders from civil society organizations within the target communities of USAID-Zarqa, Al-Rusaifah, Karak, Ajloun and Jerash for four days from 19-22 October 2015 in Amman.

 

One of the workshop participants stated that one of the reasons for her participation in this project is that he is addressing an issue that concerns herself and the girls in the Jordanian society in general and the opportunity to participate in the workshop will enable her to know the harassment and its types and work with youth groups to reject this behavior and reduce it within the tools available to them as youth It's a lot. "

 

 

USAID's Gender Integration Program aims to promote public interest and dialogue on gender issues and policies, gender-based justice and women's empowerment, and the Arab Network for Civil Education-Anhre is an independent Arab non-governmental network that unites efforts and coordination between Institutions working in the field of education on human rights and citizenship of different kinds and strengthening their role in the field of education on human rights and citizenship to ensure that there is legislation that respects human dignity and rights.
