Education is a fundamental humman right, and emergencies have a devastating impact on the right to education for millions of people, 250 million children and young people were out of school before the Corona pandemic, and nearly 800 million adults did not know how to read and write.

Conflicts, climate change, disasters, public health emergencies and the forced displacement of people within and across borders are affecting these numbers growing around the world. In 2021, 235 million people around the world need humanitarian assistance and protection, and the impact of crises on the most marginalized, educated people with disabilities, girls, and those from low-income families is much greater.Despite this dire situation, education remains one of the most underfunded areas of humanitarian assistance: it receives only 2.4% of all global humanitarian funding.

A generation of children and youth living in emergencies is deprived not only of their human right to quality education, but also of the protection that education provides in these contexts. In emergency situations, education may be the only safe place.

This must change. Where together we can protect education in emergencies now It is noteworthy that the launch ceremony of the Global Action Week is one of the activities of the Global Action Week for Education, which will run from 25-30 April 2022. During the days of the Global Action Week for Education, a number of activities and events are carried out, including the participation of the coalition coordinator in the launching ceremony of the Global Action Week at a regional level in cooperation with the Arab Campaign for Education, and a media campaign on protecting education in emergencies now on the Facebook page of the Jordanian Coalition for Education, and finally Publish the coalition’s statement and demands on protecting education in emergencies in Jordan and upload it to social media platforms.

It is worth noting that the Jordanian Coalition for Education for All is an independent Jordanian educational coalition that includes members of local institutions, community organizations, Jordanian associations, trade unions and all who interested in the educational process and policies, as a community movement aimed at ending the global education crisis and working to monitor and achieve the fourth goal of sustainable development goals.

The coalition seeks to ensure that all children, youth, vulnerable, marginalized and deprived groups have access to a quality free and safe  education, by unifying efforts and coordination between institutions working in the field of formal and non-formal education of all kinds and strengthening their role in the advancement of the educational process at all levels in order to influence the decision makers.
