Local Trainings Humanitarian Response to the Syrian Crisis 2015

Arab Women Organization (AWO) in Partnership with ANHRE and ACTED conducted 4 local trainings within "Increasing the participation of local Jordanian civil society organizations in the humanitarian response to the Syrian crisis through planning based on Gender" project which targets 5 governorates (Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, East Amman and Al Tafielh) and funded by Women Peace Humanitarian Fund-WPHF.

 

These local trainings are considered to be the first series of local trainings to be conducted in the targeted governorates in order to build knowledge about gender and about Jordan Response plan response to the Syrian Crises. In addition it helped to analyze the priorities that respond to women and girls needs in light of the Syrian Crises in the targeted governorates and enhance women skills in data collection and in developing gender sensitive indicators.

 

The local trainings were conducted as follows:

 

  • - Training workshop in Irbid governorate was held for two days from 10-11 April 2018 at Al Farouq Charity Institution/ Irbid camp. In participation with 26 women and girls from three CBOs ( Al-Yaqeen Charity, Al-Farouq Charity and Al Rafid Agricultural Association)

 

  • - Training workshop in Al-Tafielh governorate was held for two days from 16-17 April 2018 at JOHUD/ Princess Basma hall. In participation with 22 women and girls from three CBOs (Al Hasa Charity Association, Al Tafielh women cultural forum and Al Tafielh women organization)

 

  • - Training workshop in Al-Mafraq governorate was held for two days from 23-24 April 2018 at AWO center in Mafraq. In participation with 30 women and girls from four CBOs ( Afaq Center for Youth Development, Arab Women Organization-AWO, Al Yusor Charity Association and Asam' bin Abi Baker Association)

 

  •  - Training workshop in Zarqa and East Amman governorate was held for two days from 15-16 May 2018 at Working Women Organization in Al-Rusayfeh. In participation with 26 women and girls from five CBOs ( East Amman Association, Working Women Association, Peace house for rights and freedom Association, Bushra Center for Studies and Athar Organization for Youth Development)

 

 The Local Training workshops concluded with the planning for Community based    initiatives to respond to the needs of the Syrian community in the targeted governorates and to develop an action plan to collect initial data to start implementing these initiatives

 

In General, this project aims to build the capacities and knowledge of local CBOs to integrate women and youth into their plans and programs in the context of the Syrian crisis and to build their capacity to collect and analyze gender sensitive evidence-based data to effectively influence decision makers
