Reflecting on our participation in CSW68
From March 11th to 22nd, the world witnessed the sixty-eighth annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), a pivotal gathering dedicated to advancing gender equality and women's empowerment. This year's theme, "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women," resonated deeply with our mission at the Arab Network for Civic Education, as the host organization for the We Lead project.
During the second week of the event, our own, Haneen Al-Fayoumi, represented us as the Community of Action facilitator for We Lead - Jordan. One of the highlights of our participation was Haneen's engagement in a session on funding for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), organized by FEMNET as a side event within CSW68.
Haneen eloquently addressed the critical challenges surrounding funding for SRHR, emphasizing its profound impact on women, particularly in conflict zones. Drawing attention to the current SRH situation faced by women and girls in Gaza, she shed light on how the lack of adequate funding exacerbates their plight.
Our participation in CSW68 reaffirmed our commitment to advocating for gender equality and women's empowerment, especially in contexts where vulnerabilities are magnified by conflict and limited resources. We remain steadfast in our dedication to amplifying the voices of women and girls, ensuring that their rights and needs are prioritized on the global agenda. #CSW68 #GenderEquality #Empowerment #WeLead #anhre
